What is WSET?

The Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET®)  is the leading international body in the field of wines and spirits education. Their courses provide internationally recognised qualifications which are suitable for wine industry professionals as well as enthusiasts who want to develop their knowledge.

This course provides a general introduction to wine, including how to recognise wine styles, key grape varieties and classic wines, guidance on how to match food with wine, storage and service of wine, and recording of tasting notes. Ideal for the curious novice.

 No previous experience necessary.


 Our in-person courses include at least six wine samples, use of professional ISO tasting glasses, and course textbook. This course is delivered in one day to include the exam. 


Upon booking, you'll be sent a booking form to complete and return. All candidates will receive their course materials on the day. Please let us know if you have a condition that may mean you qualify for additional help during the exam such as dyslexia.

This course is suitable for anyone who has a serious interest in wine and wishes to broaden their knowledge in a structured way. 

The WSET Level 2 Award in Wines has full accreditation from OfQual as a Level 2 Vocational Qualification. Through a combination of tasting and theory you will explore the factors that impact the style and quality of wine and learn how to describe wines with confidence. Learn how to decode wine labels and better understand key wine regions of the world. Course also covers sparkling and fortified wines.

No previous experience necessary.

 

Our in-person course is delivered over three weeks, class meetings on Saturdays which include at least 30 wine samples, use of professional ISO tasting glasses, and full study pack. Course materials will be sent ahead of the start of the course. Duration of course: 16 hours (3 full days) plus 1 hour examination. Exam held at 4pm on last day of course.


 N.B. In addition to classroom teaching, students are expected to complete around 12 hours of private study in their own time.

The WSET Level 3 Award in Wines course is an advanced level qualification for those working within the wine industry, hospitality, or the serious wine enthusiast.


The WSET Level 3 Award in Wines is a fantastic way to improve your wine career. You need to pass the WSET Level 2 Award in Wines before booking for our WSET Level 3 London course. The WSET level 3 course is a fantastic way to improve your wine career.

The duration of the entire course is 40 hours and you need to allocate a minimum of 30 hours of self-study before the start of the course.

To gain this qualification students need to pass two units:


One - a multiple choice paper of 50 questions and a question paper requiring short written answers. You will have 2 hours to complete both papers.


Two - a blind tasting paper of two wines. You will have 30 minutes to complete this part of the exam for both wines.


The exam will take place at the end of the course will last for 2 hours and 30 minutes. 

A mark of 55% required to pass.

All students who pass will receive a certificate and a lapel pin.
