Who are we?
The Cotswold Wine School is about sharing our excitement for wine and spirits and to help build confidence in the people that we interact with. Whether through our educational courses, informal private tastings, or be it corporate events, we’re passion ambassadors!
Michelle Goodman DipWSET
Michelle is a Californian who moved to the UK in 2016 to join her British husband. After nearly 12 years in the U.S. Navy, a total industry change brought her into the world of wine. Having worked in retail, importing, buying, and hospitality, it was the love of interacting with fellow oenophiles that she enjoyed most. She set up the Cotswold Wine School in 2020 and despite the unexpected lockdowns, successfully got the business off the ground. During this time, Michelle also put in the hours (years!) to successfully complete the WSET Diploma in Wines. Her favourite wine changes daily but never says no to an Italian red!
John Prime
John is a WSET Certified Educator and teaches the WSET Level 1 and Level 2 programmes here at the school. His enthusiasm for the wine world has had to fit around his career in the energy industry, so he took advantage of the unexpected pandemic lockdowns to study for the Court of Master Sommeliers’ Certified qualification. Which he passed in January 2022. He also became the first person from the UK to pass the Certified Sherry Wine Specialist qualification. His desert island wine changes every week, but he asks that the island could please be in the Rhone Valley in France ‘just in case he manages to build a raft’.
